CHANGE IS DIFFICULT

A reminder that recovery from addiction  needs family and loved ones to come on board. Recovery will be doomed to failure if we miss this vital step in our journey to good health.  Family support and sometimes therapy is something that I always recommend. Much damage is done in the active using time of our addictions, everyone who is close becomes affected by our behaviour. Sometimes learning how to communicate again cannot be achieved without help. One of the misunderstood facts about the illness of addiction is that it is impossible to find a way back to health and sanity alone. Anyone who has done so including myself has done so with the help of others.

What is Counselling?

There are many ways to describe what happens in a therapy session. but to keep it simple one way of looking at the process is that it is a way of making a difference to your health and well being when life or circumstances spiral out of control.  Counseling can change perceptions, feelings, and thoughts.  Life can sometimes deal us very difficult things to deal with and finding someone who can help is essential.

Counseling entails:

An assessment to determine exactly what is wrong and what can be done.

Exploration of the problem.

Ways of changing thinking, feeling, and behaviors.

Support and encouragement.

What can sabotage or halt the recovery process?

An introduction to what is available to support and help going forward.

"Your vision will become clear

only when you can look

into your own heart.

Who looks outside dreams,

Who looks inside awakes."
